THC-H Origins 

THC-H was first discovered in 2020, by Italian researchers analyzing a strain of cannabis.  In fact, the same team that discovered THC-H discovered THC-P less than a year prior.  THC-H has a 6 alkyl side chain, hence the “hexol” in the name, and little else is currently known about the cannabinoid’s characteristics.

As for the non-psychoactive properties of THC-H, we actually don’t know much at all.  Back in December of 2019, when THC-P was first discovered, the scientists analyzing it found that it had a lot of similarities in common with delta 9 THC, and thus likely offered the same types of benefits pertaining to pain, nausea, appetite and mood.  But, THC-H has yet to be given the same level of in-depth analysis, which means that while it certainly does have properties relating to the endocannabinoid system, we just don’t know what they are yet.

HHC-O Origins 

HHC-O is classified as a semi-synthesized form of HHC, which has been combined with an acetate (acetic anhydride) to change its molecular structure.  This process enhances the cannabinoid’s bioavailability, by allowing it to cross the blood brain barrier more efficiently, thus enabling it to act on cannabinoid receptors in the brain more powerfully for a stronger effect than HHC.

HHC-O is definitely more powerful in terms of its psychoactive effects than HHC – and even delta 9.  It was designed that way, and may be around 3 times as potent, give or take. HHC-O is too new to the hemp market for researchers to have gotten their hands on it to explore its physiological effects.  Aside from its psychoactive abilities, we don’t have any research-based information about what it can do in the long term.  But, HHC-O is a cannabinoid, and that means that we know that it does play a role in regulating processes of the body through the endocannabinoid system. 

Anecdotally, people who use it say that it offers relief from physical discomfort, nausea and stress, which isn’t surprising considering the fact that the cannabinoid is simply a stronger form of HHC, and HHC is known for basically mimicking the effects of delta 9 THC, a cannabinoid with far more scientific research behind it.
