PHC Drug Test: Why You Will Fail

Binoid has now started carrying PHC products as one of their newest cannabinoids. So, it is worth wondering what effect these new products can have on a drug test. We know that many Binoid customers love psychoactive, federally legal cannabinoids like delta 8THC-PTHC-O and now PHC (Hydrox4phc), still a good number of our customers also happen to be individuals who may get drug-tested from time to time, for work, for probation or some other reason.

Hydrox4phc (PHC) is a brand-new and fascinating hemp derivative reported to convert into 99% delta 9 THC once it’s metabolized.  That being said, given its relationship to delta 9, it’s important to know what that can mean if you’re someone who is going to be drug-tested in the near future.

What Is PHC?

Here’s the thing about Hydrox4phc – it’s the newest addition to the hemp market, and to say that the amount of information about it that’s out there, is limited, is a massive understatement.  What we do understand is that PHC is a derivative of delta 9o, an acetate version of delta 9 that is made using a unique process that allows the acetate molecule to metabolize once entering the body, leaving behind THC that’s no different from the delta 9 extracted from cannabis.

What we also recognize is how PHC seems to offer an intensely long-lasting high compared to any other cannabinoid, while becoming 99% THC once absorbed into the bloodstream.  People say that the high lasts for as long as edibles, which is about 8 or so hours.

Will Taking PHC Cause a Failed Drug Test?

Here’s the thing: we can’t say for certain since Hydrox4phc (PHC) hasn’t yet been put to the test.  The way in which PHC metabolizes is unique, so it’s hard to compare it to other THC cannabinoids in this regard.  PHC contains an acetate molecule, which completely metabolizes once it enters the body, leaving behind about 99% delta 9 THC

Does this metabolization process mean a change in how it would be picked up on a drug test?  For now, it’s safe to assume that the answer is no.  It’s extremely likely that like THC, PHC is converted into THC-COOH just like any other THC compound, and THC-COOH is what is responsible for a positive drug test result – more on that in a bit.

Different Drug Tests That May Pick Up PHC

There are, in fact, a number of drug tests used in the United States to find traces of drugs, so let’s go over each.

  • Urine Tests: So, let’s assume PHC is just as likely to cause a positive result as delta 9 THC.  Urine tests are the most commonly administered in the country, being highly reliable, inexpensive and promising a fast turnaround time.  Urine tests would pick up HHC-P from 2-60 days at most after it was last taken.
  • Saliva Tests: Usually used by police and other law enforcement to see if someone has driven or committed another type of crime while intoxicated.  Saliva tests only show usage within the last 10 hours.
  • Hair Strand Tests: Not that common because they’re both expensive and somewhat unreliable – for instance, the test results are nullified if a person has dyed their hair.  They show drug use for up to 90 days.
  • Blood Tests: Usually are used in hospital settings, as they only show if a person is intoxicated at the present time.
  • Perspiration Tests: These are not all that common, and only really used for clinical testing.  They work by applying a patch to a person’s skin which collects samples of sweat for two weeks, and THC-COOH can be identified in that sweat.

Which Factors May Influence a PHC Drug Test?

Let’s say you’ve already taken some PHC products, and you only just found out you’re getting drug-tested soon.  There are still ways you may pass, as you’ll see below.

#1: Your Prior PHC Usage

When you last took PHC can make all the difference.  If it’s been over 4 weeks, there’s a very good chance you’re in the clear.  It’s also about how often you took it.

THC-COOH metabolizes at the same rate no matter how much of it is in the body, so if you’ve taken Hydrox4phc (PHC) every day for a few weeks, there’s a lot of THC-COOH to work through the body before it’s gone, which means that you’ll likely test positive for longer – up to about 6 weeks.  If you took only a small amount once a few weeks ago, it’s very unlikely PHC will show up in a test.

#2: How You Metabolize PHC

Because of factors related to genetics, diet, immune function and more, some people’s metabolisms fully break down and eliminate cannabinoids faster than others do, and still, are more likely to pass a test within a short period of time. As you can see, some people are lucky enough to metabolize THC compounds much quicker than others.

#3: Strength of the PHC Product

If you’ve purchased a product that comes in different milligram strengths, like PHC gummies or a PHC tincture, the milligram strength you’ve chosen matters a lot.  You will metabolize 5mg of PHC much faster than, say, 50mg. That’s because the more milligrams of PHC you consume, the longer it will take for each milligram to break down until the cannabinoid is finally cleared from the body.

Where To Buy PHC Products: Disposable Vapes

You can find PHC products such as vape cart disposables and more on Binoid’s website here! Or you can search “PHC” at the top header of their website. Binoid carries PHC vape disposables such as Ice Cream, Rainbow Belts and more such as indica or hybrid options. You can choose your regular THC favorites with our PHC vape disposables here.

How Drug-Testing For PHC Works

When a person takes a standard urine test for an employer or other type of organization, the test is not actually seeking to identify levels of THC in the body.  Instead, it’s searching for THC-COOH – a type of metabolite that’s released into the body when a person consumes THC, in order to break it down.  THC-COOH is fat-soluble, which means that it remains in the body for quite a while.  This is why a person can test positive for several days up to weeks following THC usage.

Because standard drug tests are testing for a metabolite rather than a specific compound, this raises the question about how tests will respond to other cannabinoids.  In other words, are there other compounds in hemp that cause the body to produce THC-COOH?

What Should You Know About PHC Before Getting Tested?

If you want to take your chances and use PHC products despite knowing that you may be drug-tested in the relatively near future, there are some things to keep in mind first.  One is that in the event that Hydrox4phc does, in fact, trigger a positive result, your usage can make a difference.

Comparing it to THC, we see that those who only use marijuana once in a while can require 5 or so days before they test “clean”, while heavy users may need somewhere around a month of abstinence before THC-COOH is no longer detectable in their urine.

In other words, if you are worried that using Hydrox4phc can cause a positive result, you might want to apply this information to your PHC usage.  In other words, consider when it’s time to take a break from using PHC so that the potential levels of THC-COOH would no longer be traceable by the date of your test.

Also, there are cannabinoids that do likely trigger THC-COOH, and those are delta 8 THCdelta 10 THCTHC-O, and THC-P.  Some hemp companies make products that combine PHC with at least one of these cannabinoids, so taking them could cause you to fail a drug test, not because of the PHC itself.

With PHC Drug-Testing – Best to Just Play It Safe

If you’re taking PHC, it turns out that the risk of failing a drug test is likely to be quite high.  So, it’s best to be safe rather than sorry, and just avoid using PHC if you know you’ll be tested in the next 5 or so weeks.

While it hasn’t yet been proven that taking PHC can cause a failed drug test, and even though Hydrox4phc metabolizes in a unique way, it’s likely that it does turn into THC-COOH after it leaves the blood, which would mean you’re likely to fail.
