Why is Delta 8 Vape Oil Only Meant to Be Vaped?

Most of us who enjoy delta 8 THC find that vaping an oil containing the distillated form of the cannabinoid brings unique satisfaction.  Delta 8 vapes, whether they be pre-filled cartridges or disposables, allow us to enjoy quick and potent effects of the compound in a way that’s short-lived enough for us to get back to our daily routines in no time.

Delta 8 vape oils can vary from company to company in many ways, in terms of potency, strain, presence of specific compounds, and other ingredients.  But, overall, delta-8 vape oils should only be left for vaping purposes – that is, we DO NOT recommend trying to use this type of formula for anything other than vaping, as you will quickly learn why.

Sometimes, Delta 8 THC Vape Oil is Too Potent for Other Applications

Most companies nowadays use pure delta 8 THC distillate with terpenes in their vape oils, meaning that there is no dilution agent to reduce the potency.  What this means is that in its pure form, delta 8 vape oil can be extremely potent, and therefore taking a standard dose in some other delivery method is extremely unadvisable.

For example, a standard dose of a tincture is a milliliter.  With a standard 1000mg 30ml tincture bottle, that allows for 33 milligrams of delta 8 per dose.  But, a milliliter vape cartridge can contain 900 milligrams, or even more milligrams of delta 8 THC, which is around 300% the recommended strength of a tincture dose.  So, trying to consume a milliliter of vape oil sublingually could cause you to get far too intoxicated, resulting in a host of unpleasant symptoms.

Sometimes, Delta 8 THC Vape Oil Cannot Be Removed

Most vape cartridges and disposables do not allow you to remove the vape oil inside.  Trying to do so could cause you to break the hardware, or worse, spill the vape oil everywhere before it can be used.  It’s not recommended to try cracking open vaping products that aren’t intended to be opened in the first place.

Sometimes, Delta 8 THC Vape Oil Contains Ingredients Unsafe for Oral Administration

Some delta 8 vape oil companies may use ingredients that are safe for vaping, but unsafe for consuming orally.  Of course, in an ideal world, this wouldn’t be the case, since only food grade ingredients should exist in a cartridge.  However, with low regulations in the industry, a company can put just about anything they want inside a vape cartridge, and this could include certain chemical ingredients that are unsafe to swallow, including, in rare cases, nicotine.

Note: At Binoid, our vaping products contain only pure hemp compounds with no added ingredients.

Trying to Use a Delta 8 THC Vape Oil as a Tincture

As we explained earlier, the biggest issue with trying to absorb a vape oil sublingually has to do with the significant disparity between the recommended dosage for tinctures compared to the strength of a milliliter of vape oil.  Basically, you should not try to use a vape oil as a tincture.

Trying to Use a Delta 8 THC Vape Oil as a Food Additive

Because of this high potency, adding a delta 8 vape oil to your food could cause the same issue, as anything more than a couple of drops could cause you to get far too intoxicated.  Also, like we mentioned, some ingredients in certain vape oil products may not be appropriate for ingestion.

Trying to Use a Delta 8 THC Vape Oil Topically

Applying delta 8 vape oil topically isn’t recommended, since some ingredients in vape oils may irritate the skin, including propylene glycol (PG) which some may find irritating.  In fact, delta-8 vape oils tend to have such thick consistencies that they do not absorb into the skin as easily as topical formulas like lotions and salves.

Trying to Smoke Delta 8 THC Vape Oil

Trying to insert delta 8 vape oil into a pipe to smoke it is simply a bad idea.  Rather than turning into smoke, the oil will simply burn, and you will have wasted product.  Applying direct heat to a vape oil is far harsher than vaporizing it, and so the compounds will degrade, and you’ll likely get a very unpleasant burnt taste without any of the effects you want from taking delta-8.

Trying to Dab Delta 8 THC Vape Oil

Dabbing with delta 8 THC vape oil is similarly ill-advised.  Dabbing setups involve flash-vaporization techniques that heat the product to enormously high temperatures.  This is good for concentrates which need to be properly melted at high temps to vaporize.  Oils will simply burn as a result of exposing them to these temperatures, which climb even higher than those achieved through traditional smoking, as discussed above.

Can You Use Other Types of Delta 8 Oils for Vaping?

Just like you shouldn’t use delta 8 THC vape oils as other delivery methods, you should not try to vape a delta 8 formula that isn’t intended for this purpose.  This is why we do not recommend trying to use, for example, a delta-8 tincture as a vape oil.  Many times, they contain ingredients and have consistencies that are not vape-friendly, and will therefore disappoint you by either burning, clogging your device, or introducing ingredients into the body that should not be inhaled, like certain essential oils.

Ultimately, Delta 8 THC Vape Oil is Made for Vaping, and Nothing Else!

If you want to try an alternative delivery method, consider the products at Binoid, which allow you to experience delt 8 THC’s effects through all kinds of unique absorption means.  We have a multitude of vapes, in addition to edibles, tinctures, capsules, and even dabs that can all allow you to feel delta 8 THC in a personalized way according to your needs.
