HHCO Cannabinoid: Tested and Reviewed

HHC-O, aka hexahydrocannabinol-O-Acetate or simply HHC-O-Acetate, is a relatively new addition to the hemp market, offering up magnificent psychoactive effects that hemp enthusiasts can’t get enough of.  But, how does HHC-O actually work, in terms of its ability to affect us psychoactively, and offer up so many distinctive properties throughout both the body and the mind?

How Do Cannabinoids Work?

To start grasping how HHC-O-Acetate works, we need to understand the relationship that all cannabinoids share with the endocannabinoid system (ECS).  The ECS is a system found in all mammals, and its purpose is to utilize cannabinoids to regulate individual processes of the body, with the overarching goal of bringing us into homeostasis.

Throughout the body, you’ will find cannabinoid receptors, each one capable of regulating a specific process of the body, whether it be our sleep cycle, our mood, our inflammation levels, our pain tolerance, etc.  Cannabinoid receptors are broken down into two categories: CB1 receptors, located in the nervous system, and CB2 receptors, located mainly in the nervous system, digestive system and immune systems.  Some cannabinoids work more strongly with CB1 receptors, some work more strongly with CB2 receptors, and some work with both in a more balanced way.

When a cannabinoid absorbs into our body, it attaches to specific cannabinoid receptors, and this process enables the cannabinoid receptors to regulate specific processes that affect our body and mind.  At the same time, specific cannabinoid receptors in the brain use cannabinoids to produce a psychoactive effect, and how strongly a specific cannabinoid attaches to those receptors determines the potency of the high, which explains why some cannabinoids are far more intoxicating than others.

There are over 100 individual cannabinoids in the hemp plant, and each one plays its own role in interacting with the endocannabinoid system, which is why each cannabinoid ultimately feels and behaves differently.  This is why getting high off of delta 8 can feel so different from getting high off of THC-P, for instance.

Theoretically, each time we consume a cannabinoid, we’re bringing our bodies closer to homeostasis, although it’s safe to say that the majority of people who take psychoactive cannabinoids are more interested in its immediate intoxicating effects, which are undeniably enjoyable and can be extremely valuable to maintaining our mood, physical comfort levels and more on a daily basis.

How Does HHC-O Work with the Endocannabinoid System?

HHC-O-Acetate is extremely new, and is actually a semi-synthesized form of HHC, created specifically to make its high 1.5 times more potent than its predecessor – likely to better match the potency of delta 9 THC, the cannabinoid to which it’s always compared.

HHC-O takes HHC, the hydrogenated form of THC, and adds to it acetic anhydride, which synthetically enhances its ability to bind to specific cannabinoid receptors that are responsible for getting us high.  Just how much more strongly HHC-O acts on these receptors remains unknown, as is how it works with other cannabinoid receptors to produce its secondary, non-intoxicating effects – like effects on sleep, inflammation, appetite and so on.

What Effects Can HHC-O Offer?

It’s important to note that to date, no studies have been done on HHC-O-Acetate that we can reference to offer insight into specific properties.  We know that HHC-O is intoxicating, and probably as intoxicating as delta 9 THC.  That being said, the high is usually described as blissful and euphoric, and somewhat hazy, while also offering a physical high that eases tension throughout the muscles.

Because HHC-O is so incredibly similar to delta 9 THC, we can make educated guesses as to what other kinds of properties it can offer, such as:

  • Appetite-boosting properties
  • Antiemetic properties
  • Anxiolytic properties
  • Mood-boosting properties
  • Stress-reducing properties
  • Analgesic properties
  • Neuroprotective properties
  • Anti-inflammatory properties

In the future, we hope that studies are done on HHC-O so that we can see clear evidence as to its properties beyond how the cannabinoid can get us high.  For the time-being, this compound does work favorably with the endocannabinoid system to offer many valuable properties that can improve how we feel.

Final HHC-O Working Thoughts

HHC-O-Acetate is an intriguing cannabinoid in many ways, including the way in which it interacts with our body in order to deliver heavily desirable effects, including its high.  Like all cannabinoids, HHC-O gets its unique powers from its relationship to the ECS, and it’s clear that its effects are completely one-of-a-kind.  And, at Binoid, you can enjoy all sorts of amazing HHC-O products.
