What is HHC-P?

Again, HHC-P is sort of the THC-P of HHC – now, if that confuses you, we don’t blame you.  THC-P is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in hemp, first discovered in 2019.  What makes THC-P so impressive is its ability to bind to CB1 receptors in the brain 31x more than delta 9 THC, giving it a high that some say is about 10x as potent as the more traditional THC compound.  THC-P gets its enhanced potency from an additional 7 carbon atoms in its side chain at the molecular scale.

HHC-P is, in fact, the hydrogenated form of THC-P.  Meaning, it’s partly made of hydrogen, it’s extremely chemically stable, and yet still capable of delivering the same properties as THC-P.  Those who are familiar with HHC will understand the analogous relationship between HHC-P and THC-P, and HHC and delta 9 THC.

Is HHC-P Natural?

HHC-P does not naturally occur in the hemp plant, although HHC and THC-P both do. Hexahydrocannabiphorol is produced through an isomerization process, which is, in fact, how we get most of our hemp products today, including delta 8, THC-P, and HHC.  Isomerization is a way to reconfigure the molecules in cannabidiol (CBD) to convert the cannabinoid into a new one – in this case, HHC-P.

All cannabinoids are isomers of one another? How?  Because they all come from cannabigerol (CBG), the initial cannabinoid to emerge in the cannabis plant before splitting itself up into over a hundred individual cannabinoids as the plant matures. Translation: All cannabinoids have the same molecules, and thus, rearranging them converts them into different cannabinoids.  CBD is used to make HHC-P products because it’s abundantly available in the plant, making the process highly cost-effective.

So, is HHC-P Synthetic Then?

Yes, hexahydrocannabiphorol is synthetic cannabinoid that was created in a lab by a professional scientist.  HHC-P does not exist in nature and must be synthesized in a laboratory.  You can see why then, too, it is crucial to have a real grasp of those third-party labs, which are required for our industry, in order to measure what’s in that said HHC-P product you’re receiving.

What are HHC-P’s Psychoactive Effects?

Hexahydrocannabiphorol (HHC-P) is a psychoactive cannabinoid, and that’s for certain.  Not to sound like a broken record here, but consider how HHC-P shares so much in common with both HHC and THC-P.  HHC is considered to be about as psychoactive as delta 9 THC, if not a little milder.  THC-P, which HHC-P mimics very closely, is, like we said, potentially 10x as intoxicating as delta 9.

As for the nature of the high, we don’t have many references to draw on.  But, many describe it as potently euphoric – which makes sense, considering its similarities to tetrahydrocannabiphorol (HHC-P).  And, that’s about all we know thus far, although for many users that’s plenty, since a huge burst of euphoria alongside a far stronger-than-the typical THC high is what a lot of today’s users are looking for, specifically.
