To understand the importance of a distillate’s purity level, we need to understand what a distillate is first.  A distillate is produced through a process known as distillation, which is the purification and concentration of a specific substance – in this case, HHC-P.  The process of actually creating a distillate is somewhat long and involved, and thus, can vary in terms of the equipment used, coupled with how much time and attention is put into each step.

The proper method for making distillate is taking an extract of the whole flower and applying varying levels of heat and pressure to it.  This evaporates the unwanted compounds based on the conditions at which they vaporize, and eventually, at least ideally, all that’s left behind is pure hexahydrocannabiphorol.  The other cannabinoids, along with terpenes, have met their boiling point and are no longer viable.  It’s a very time-consuming process that when done right, produces excellent results, with a phenomenally concentrated HHC-P extract that contains almost no other traces of additional chemical compounds that exist in the hemp plant.

In fact, it’s considered that anything 90% or over is ideal, and obviously, the greater the purity percentage, the better.  It’s incredibly hard to achieve anything over 90% without intensive labor, time and other resources, but it can be done.

How Can I Know How Pure My HHC-P is?

The purity level of an HHC-P distillate is actually information that you can easily access through a company’s third-party lab reports, which should always be available on their website.  These lab reports mean that the HHC-P distillate was sent to a state-authorized third-party testing facility, where it was analyzed for its purity level among other factors including the specific breakdown of chemical compounds in the product, and whether or not it’s compliant with the law based on its delta 9 THC concentration.

The purity level should be easy to find on these lab reports, as it’s usually on the first page.  It should be seen as a breakdown of individual cannabinoids with a percentage next to each one, and there you’ll see the actual concentration of hexahydrocannabiphorol. 

Also, keep in mind that sometimes companies do post their purity level on their website, usually in the product description.  But, it’s best to cross-reference it with the lab reports to be completely sure, since only lab reports provide objective information.
