To understand the importance of a distillate’s purity level, we need to know what a distillate is to begin with.  A distillate is produced through a process known as distillation, which is the purification and concentration of a specific substance – in this case, THC-P.  The process of actually making a distillate is somewhat long and involved, and thus, can vary in terms of the equipment used, along with how much time is put into each step.

The proper method for creating a distillate is taking an extract of the whole flower and applying varying levels of heat and pressure to it.  This evaporates the unwanted compounds based on the conditions at which they vaporize, and eventually, at least ideally, all that’s left behind is pure tetrahydrocannabiphorol.  The other cannabinoids, along with terpenes, have reached and exceeded their boiling point and so they are no longer viable.

In order to know how pure a THC-P product’s purity level is, just look at the third-party lab reports provided by the company on their website, which should be made easy to find.  These lab reports come from a state-authorized third-party testing facility, where samples of THC-P distillate are analyzed for safety, chemical composition, legal compliance and more.  To identify the purity level of the distillate, look at the cannabinoid breakdown column, and locate THC-P.  Next to it is a percentage, to tell you how much of the distillate is made up of tetrahydrocannabiphorol – hence, its purity level.

One thing to keep in mind is that you may see companies publish their purity levels right on their product description pages.  This is helpful and good, but we still recommend looking at the lab reports just to be sure.  While companies may not be fully unbiased, a lab report never lies, since it’s not influenced by the company in any way.
