Here at Binoid, we’ve worked incredibly hard to master the practice of extracting cannabinoids from the hemp plant and infusing these extracts into all kinds of products, including vapes, gummies, tinctures and more. For our THCV products, we use what’s called, “THCV distillate” – aka a purified extract of tetrahydrocannabivarin that’s made from the raw plant material of hemp.
The thing about distillate is, it can vary a lot in terms of its purity level, which has major implications when it comes to the effectiveness, cleanliness and stability of the end product. Let’s explore what the purity level means, and why it’s so important on the THCV market.

Cannabinoid Distillates and Purity: What Does it All Mean?
To understand the importance of a distillate’s purity level, we need to know what a distillate is first. A distillate is made through a process called distillation, which is the purification and concentration of a specific substance – in this case, THCV. The process of actually making a distillate is somewhat long and involved, and thus, can vary in terms of the equipment used, along with how much time and effort is put into each step.
The proper method for making distillate is taking an extract of the whole flower and applying varying levels of heat and pressure to it. This evaporates the unwanted compounds based on the conditions at which they vaporize, and eventually, at least ideally, all that’s left behind is pure tetrahydrocannabivarin. The other cannabinoids, along with terpenes, have reached and exceeded their boiling point and are no longer viable. It’s a very lengthy process that when done right, produces excellent results, with a phenomenally concentrated THCV extract that contains almost no other traces of additional chemical compounds that exist in the hemp plant.
What’s the Ideal Purity of THCV?
Something that surprises many cannabinoid enthusiasts is that it’s all but impossible to create a 100% pure THCV distillate. The reason why is that it’s unavoidable that there will be some amount of remaining trace amounts of other hemp-derived compounds in the final product, which share too many properties in common with tetrahydrocannabivarin to completely evaporate during the distillation process. So, you shouldn’t bother wasting time in search of a 100% pure THCV distillate, because it doesn’t exist.
In fact, as a rule, anything above 90% is considered ideal, and naturally, the higher the purity percentage, the better. It’s incredibly hard to achieve anything over 90% without intensive labor, time and other resources, but it can be done.
Another thing to keep in mind is that THCV-infused products are often combined with other cannabinoids, with delta 8 THC being the most common, since THCV’s psychoactive effects are typically unstable on their own. So, you can end up with an ultra-pure THCV distillate, but the distillate itself will be diluted with another cannabinoid distillate of a similar purity rating.
How Can I Know How Pure My THCV is?
Basically, a THCV product’s purity level is something you can access easily, by looking at the third-party lab reports published on a company’s website. These lab reports come from a state-licensed third-party testing facility that is authorized to analyze samples of hemp distillates, and then return the reports to the manufacturer. The lab reports give you lots of critical information about a THCV product pertaining to things like safety, quality and purity. To find out the purity level, just look at the column of cannabinoids, which will have percentages next to them. Find THCV and the adjacent percentage, and that’s the purity level.
Also, be aware that companies may publish their purity level on the product description page, but it’s still best to check the lab report, since only the lab report offers unbiased and objective information that’s 100% true. Some companies may exaggerate their purity levels, but the lab reports don’t lie.
The Purity of Binoid’s THCV
Again, Binoid has worked enormously hard to come up with some of the purest THCV distillate that you can find anywhere. We use a highly advanced multi-step distillation process that guarantees a purity level between 92% and 95%, which is far above average. This is done through a combination of advanced equipment, the latest technology and employees who take the job of crafting distillate seriously, and even commit to only the most careful attention to detail. What this means is that we are able to provide some of the best THCV products on the market, to give you effects you’re looking for with a phenomenal rate of effectiveness.
The Takeaway
