THC-H Origins 

THC-H was first found in 2020, by a team of Italian researchers analyzing a strain of cannabis.  In fact, the same team that discovered THC-H discovered THC-P less than a year earlier.  THC-H has a 6 alkyl side chain, hence the “hexol” in the name, and that’s about all we know of its chemical characteristics at the moment.

THC-H’s Psychoactive Properties

THC-H is profoundly psychoactive – it’s the second most intoxicating cannabinoid after THC-P – based on how strongly it binds to CB1 receptors in the brain that are responsible for the general psychoactive response of THC compounds.  Those who have given it a try describe its high as extremely euphoric, which could be good for those who want to experience the more uplifting properties that THC can deliver.  Many also report a powerful body high effect that induces couch lock for quite a while.

THC-H’s Non-Psychoactive Properties

THC-B Origin 

Tetrahydrocannabutol is one of about 113 cannabinoids that naturally occurs in the hemp plant.  An extremely trace cannabinoid, THC-B was discovered for the first time in late 2019.  In fact, it was discovered along with tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P) by a team of Italian researchers analyzing the chemical composition of the hemp plant through liquid chromatography.  More on that in a little bit.

THC-B is pretty much on par with THC-P, the cannabinoid considered to be the most psychoactive in all of cannabis.  We also don’t yet know the specifics of the high in terms of its dominant effects – for instance, whether it creates a feeling of euphoria, whether it’s associated with couchlock, etc.

Researchers who isolated THC-B did test out the compound in animal trials to get a basic understanding of what viable benefits it has.  They displayed how it created some of the identical effects in mice as it did in humans.
