What Does THCV Feel Like?

Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) has been a gamechanger on the hemp scene thanks to its properties that go above and beyond its psychoactive activity.  Data show a lot of promise when it comes to the cannabinoid’s value, and all of its properties combined make it a hemp derivative that’s absolutely worth exploring.

But, what does THCV actually feel like once it’s active in the system?  Knowing what to expect in terms of the overall feeling that it provides can help a person decide whether or not it’s another hemp-derived compound worth incorporating into their hemp routine.  Afterall, there are more THCV vape and products available in this industry than ever before.

What is THCV?

Tetrahydrocannabivarin is a homologue of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) that exists in minor levels in the hemp plant.  THCV is a naturally occurring cannabinoid that scientists have known about for a long time, but only recently has its value led to an appearance on the hemp market.  Despite its structural similarities to THC, its properties are completely unique, and its psychoactive effects in particular are nothing short of fascinating.

Will I Feel High with THCV?

Tetrahydrocannabivarin’s potential to get a person high is quite unique.  We’re still in the process of learning about how its psychoactive activity behaves in the endocannabinoid system (ECS).  Seems that THCV won’t get you high unless you take a moderate to high serving of the cannabinoid, since it only works on the CB1 receptors responsible for a psychoactive response when a certain number of milligrams is absorbed into the body.

Further, THCV’s intoxicating properties seem to be activated at a higher temperature than delta 9 THC, meaning that companies must decarboxylate the compound using a different level of heat.

What is the High of THCV Like?

The high associated with tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) is harder to describe than other psychoactive cannabinoids, because it can vary so much depending on dosage, and also because it seems to affect each person differently in a way that is unique from other cannabinoids, for reasons not quite understood.  What we do hear countless times from users is that its high is mildly stimulating, in a way that does not greatly interfere with mental clarity.  In other words, THCV is less likely to impair functionality than others.

Furthermore, the high is often described as lasting for about half as long as delta 9 THC.  Still, you should not drive or operate machinery while under the influence of THCV.

What are the Effects of THCV?

Tetrahydrocannabivarin has been studied for far more than its psychoactive activity, and given its fascinating properties, the high associated with it may just be the icing on the cake.  THCV is described as an appetite suppressant, which makes it unique from a lot of other cannabinoids that we’re familiar with.

Perhaps the most interesting bit of research on THCV is its effects on blood sugar and insulin, which might be quite powerful, and unique to this one hemp derivative.

What Determines How You Will Feel When Taking THCV?

While ultimately, the properties of tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) are identical for every user, there are variables that will determine the experience that you have with the cannabinoid.

#1: Your Body’s Tolerance

Each person has a unique tolerance to THCV based on both their experience with other cannabinoids and the nature of their endocannabinoid system.  There are physiological factors that remain relatively unclear that determine how a person’s body will process THCV, and which specific effects they will feel more prominently than others.

#2: How Much You Take

Naturally, the amount of THCV that a person takes plays a big role as well.  We said earlier that to feel the psychoactive properties of THCV, you need to take a relatively large dose.  Unfortunately, there has not yet been determined a specific dosage that automatically triggers a psychoactive effect, and it may be different for each individual.  The milligram strength you choose along with how much of the product you consume in one sitting will have a large effect on what your experience with THCV ends up feeling like.

#3: The Delivery Method

You can find all kinds of THCV product types on the market with each have their own specific delivery method.  The delivery method of a THCV product has a lot to do with how the cannabinoid feels in the body, because how it’s absorbed plays a big role in how strong the effects are, how long they are felt for and other factors.

  • THCV Vapes: THCV vapes come in both cartridge and disposable pen form, but they deliver the cannabinoid into the body through the same means, and therefore the effects are the same.  Inhaling THCV allows us to feel its effects in minutes, lasting for up to 2 hours.  The effects tend to be felt quite potently as well due to the high bioavailability of inhalation.
  • THCV Flower: THCV flower performs mostly like vapes.  Inhaling the cannabinoid in flower form offers fast-acting, short-lived and potent effects as the delivery method is the same.  But, a big difference is that while THCV vapes almost always combine pure THCV with terpenes, flower always contains the full array of compounds inherent to hemp, including many cannabinoids.  Therefore, you’ll also be consuming the effects of other cannabinoids with flower, which means you’ll be experiencing a broader diversity of plant properties.

  • THCV Dabs: THCV dabs are concentrates, which are “dabbed” or flash-vaporized.  They are extremely potent, which is why they’re best for experienced users, as they can get you very high compared to other delivery methods.  They also take effect the most quickly.
  • THCV Tinctures: THCV tinctures are bottled THCV oils that absorb under the tongue, through the sublingual tissue.  This method is less bioavailable than the others, but still offers the capabilities of THCV in a noticeable way.  The effects take about 30 minutes to be felt, and last for about 4 or 5 hours.
  • THCV Capsules: THCV capsules are ingested, and this allows the effects to last for around 8 hours, taking 60 minutes or so to really be felt.  The effects are noted for delivering a unique “body high” that only comes with ingestible products.
  • THCV Edibles: THCV edibles work a lot like capsules since the ultimate deliver method is the same.  However, the effects may take a little bit longer to become active as there are more ingredients to be broken down by the body.
  • #4: Type of Strain You Choose

The final factor is the strain that you select.  Many THCV products come in different strains, consisting of unique terpene profiles that have their own effects, flavor and aroma.  There are three main categories of strains, and within each category you’ll find lots of individual strain options.

  • Indica: Very mellowing and bliss-inducing, making them a popular choice for evening enjoyment.
  • Sativa: More uplifting and euphoria-inducing, and also may have energizing properties suitable for daytime.
  • Hybrid: Occurs when a breeder crosses an indica with a sativa, resulting in a balance between these two strain types.
  • Final THCV Feeling Thoughts

Tetrahydrocannabivarin is quite a standout cannabinoid in many ways, and even offers a lot of value to those who are interested in its psychoactive properties as well as its other effects that relate to the endocannabinoid system.  If you’re ready to find out what THCV feels like, Binoid’s collection of THCV Vapes come in different strains, in order to offer a more customized feeling for the mind & body.  Our THCV contains premium-grade hemp extract that’s free of additives, delivering only the finest quality to ensure a satisfying THCV experience.
