How Long Do the Effects of THCjd Typically Last in Our System for?

It’s important to not only know how long THCjd can stay in the system, but how long the effects of the cannabinoid can last as well.  THCjd will remain in the system for quite a while after the effects have worn off, so bear that in mind.

Δ9-THCjd (THCjd) is one of the newest discoveries in the hemp plant, and we are still learning a lot about it.  So far, we know that this cannabinoid is extremely psychoactive, with a high that’s likely somewhere between that of THC-O-acetate (THC-O) and tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P).  We also know that the high is commonly considered to be very soothing and mellowing, sort of like an indica strain.

How long you will feel the high of THCjd depends mostly on the product type you take.

• Inhalable Products (Vapes, Dabs, Flower): Any THCjd product that involves inhaling the cannabinoid, such as a vaping product, infused flower, or a dab (concentrate), absorbs at the fastest rate, leading to the shortest-lasting effects – about 1-2 hours.
• Ingestible Products (Edibles, Capsules): Ingesting THCjd in the form of an edible, capsule, or even a beverage means that the cannabinoid will absorb into the body at the slowest rate, causing the longest-lasting effects – about 8 hours.
• Sublingual Products (Tinctures): Tinctures absorb below the tongue, through the sublingual tissue.  Absorbing at a medium rate, the effects usually last for about 4-6 hours.

Is There a Duration of Time When THCjd is Supposed to Leave Our System?

We’ve said that Δ9-THCjd will remain in the body for a while after the high has worn off.  But, how long is that, exactly?  There’s no specific answer, since how long it takes for the body to fully clear out the cannabinoid can be determined by everything from how much of the cannabinoid you last had, to how quickly your metabolism works in general.  What we do know is:

• About 30 minutes after THCjd’s effects are first felt, somewhere around 50% of the cannabinoid has already metabolized.  
• Another 30 minutes later, 25% more THCjd has metabolized.  
• This leaves about 25% of the cannabinoid left in the system, which will now take anywhere from 2-30 days to fully break down since the process becomes a lot slower at this point.

What This Means for Drug-Testing Purposes 

Δ9-THCjd is a THC compound, hence, any drug test looking for THC will register THCjd as a positive result.  But, there are different kinds of drug tests out there, with each one possibly giving you a different outcome.

Method #1: Urine Tests: A urine-based test is looking for THC-COOH, the enzyme responsible for breaking down THC compounds.  It’s fast and reliable, and the most common test for both employers and probation officers.  It can detect THC usage from about 2-30 days after consumption.

Method #2: Saliva Tests: A saliva-based drug test is usually administered by a law enforcement officer, to determine whether or not someone is intoxicated while driving.  It only shows whether or not a person has consumed THC within the last 10 hours.

Method #3: Blood Tests: A blood test is usually administered in a medical environment like a hospital, since it can only determine if a person is presently high on a THC compound.

Method #4: Hair Tests: A hair test can show whether or not a person has used THCjd after about 90 days of the last usage.  This test isn’t common since it’s very expensive and cannot pick up on recent use.  It’s most commonly used in autopsies.

Method #5: Perspiration Tests: A perspiration test involves attaching a patch to a person’s skin for two weeks, since they can sweat out THC-COOH as the body breaks it down.  This is an invasive and costly test that’s usually used for clinical research.

What Actually Plays a Role in How Long THCjd Could Normally Last in the Body For? 

As mentioned earlier, how long it takes for you to completely clear Δ9-THCjd from the body really depends on some key individual variables.

#1: Frequency of Use 

Using THCjd once a week is going to allow you to metabolize it faster than someone who uses it twice a day, since the body’s metabolization process can only go so quickly.  Using it daily means that your body is accumulating the cannabinoid faster than it can metabolize it.

#2: Delivery Method  

The delivery method also makes a difference, in all likelihood, similarly to what we said earlier about the duration of effects.  This means that ingestible products would metabolize at the slowest rate, and inhalable products at the fastest rate.

#3: Product Strength 

We said that how frequently you take THCjd matters, since the body can only metabolize so many milligrams at a time.  The same applies to the strength of your product, as higher strengths mean more of a “backup” while the body tries to clear all of the cannabinoid out of the system.

#4: Your Metabolism

Some of us have metabolisms that just work faster than others, due to things like diet, genetics, current state of health and body weight.  There’s no way to know whether or not your metabolism will eliminate THCjd faster than someone else’s.

#5: When You Last Took THCjd

If you’ve taken THCjd in the last couple of days, it’s still going to remain in your body.  If it’s been over a month, you’re almost definitely in the clear.

#6: Product Quality

The quality of the THCjd product makes a surprising difference as well.  Products crafted using low-quality extraction methods or expired extracts may be so chemically unstable that the majority of the product metabolizes quickly rather than taking effect at all.

How Long After Using THCjd is it Safe to Take Any Type of Medication (Prescription or Non-Prescription)?

We know that many cannabinoids suppress CYP3A4 levels in the body, and this enzyme is responsible for breaking down most of the common medications we take, in order to prevent them from accumulating in the blood at toxic levels.  So, essentially, if using Δ9-THCjd, you could be preventing certain medications from fully metabolizing, which in turn, might be dangerous.

Also, no studies have been conducted on the interaction between Δ9-THCjd and specific medications.  This means that if you are going to be taking the cannabinoid with a specific drug, you absolutely must speak to your doctor.

The Bottom Line: THC-JD Can Stay 30 Days In Your System

If you do have an interest in taking Δ9-THCjd, be aware that it can remain in your body long after the actual effects have worn off.  Basically, if you’re taking a medication or have an upcoming drug test, there could be consequences.  Since it’s always better err on the side of caution, best in the meantime to abstain from THCjd if you do have a pending drug test.  Plus, you should absolutely talk to your doctor if you’re on any kind of medications.
