THCM is a derivative of hemp that you’re likely to start hearing a lot about in the near future, despite the fact that it’s remained relatively unknown since its discovery more than 20 years ago. There’s very little information available about its various effects, but one thing we do know is that it has a lot of promise.
Delta 10 THC, meanwhile, has been available on the market for a couple of years now, and despite the lack of research on this cannabinoid as well, we know a good deal about it from user experiences. So, how does THCM measure up to delta 10? Let’s find out.
As of now, we don’t actually know about THCM’s psychoactive properties. Whether or not the cannabinoid is intoxicating has yet to be confirmed, but one thing that we do know is that if it is psychoactive, the effects are likely to be extremely mild. And, without knowing whether or not it’s psychoactive, we don’t know if the potential high would be more euphoric, uplifting, calming, or so on.
One thing that has been suggested consistently, however, is that THCM acts as a potentiator to other cannabinoids. This means that taking THCM with another cannabinoid would make the latter cannabinoid’s effects more potent, through their synergistic relationship. THCM would contribute to the entourage effect, which is the beneficial effect of taking all cannabis compounds together at the same time, to offer a more bioavailable experience, again through the synergistic relationship that these compounds share with each other.
THCM is extremely rare on the market right now, and for the time-being, we’ve only seen it in vaping products, in combination with other cannabinoids that are known for their psychoactive effects. Because of that, it’s clear that at least for now, THCM’s purpose is to potentiate the effects of other cannabinoids, and enhance the entourage effect.
THCM is, in fact, a legal cannabinoid according to federal law, when it comes from the hemp plant, because of the Farm Bill, which passed in 2018, and legalized any hemp product that contains a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC. THCM may sound a lot like delta 9 THC in its name, but at the end of the day, it’s a different compound.
One thing that you need to know, however, is that 19 states have banned all THC cannabinoids, and THCM would fall into that category. So, you should assume that THCM is illegal in:
Delta 10 THC is a naturally occurring cannabinoid that was discovered some time in the last few years, and unlike THCM, has been isolated. Delta 10 exists in only very minor levels in the hemp plant, and little is known about it from a research-based perspective, because it is so new.
Delta 10 THC is estimated to be 30% less intoxicating than delta 9 THC, and about as intoxicating as delta 8 THC. Delta 10 is known for being uplifting, motivating, and focus-boosting, behaving a lot like a sativa strain of cannabis. Delta 10’s high is pretty clear-minded, due to how mild it is.
It’s safe to say that most people take delta 10 THC because they want a nice, mellow high that can offer a mood boost, help them with focus, and give them an invigorating body buzz.
Delta 10 THC is also federally legal, like THCM, because it also complies with the 2018 Farm Bill. But, being a form of THC, it’s banned in the same states as THCM.
THCM and delta 10 THC are both hemp derivatives that are relatively unknown in terms of their effects and chemical structure. But, at the same time, we know that they’re nontoxic, and bring a lot of promise, as so far, all cannabis derivatives have been found to offer clear positive effects.
THCM is going to be more widely available soon, and don’t be surprised to see it paired with delta 10 THC and many of your other favorite cannabinoids. So, keep an eye out, because THCM will be easier to find on the market in no time.
