THCM and THC-H are two similar sounding cannabinoids that, in many ways, are incredibly different from one another. While THC-H has been available commercially for a short while now, while THCM is barely available at all.
Because they’re both relatively new, we want to compare them to one another, to give you an idea of what you might be in for depending on which of the two you choose. Keep in mind that both cannabinoids are very new, and little research behind them exists, but we’ll share everything there is to know so far.
As of now, we don’t actually know about THCM’s psychoactive properties. Whether or not the cannabinoid is intoxicating has yet to be confirmed, but one thing that we do know is that if it is psychoactive, the effects are likely to be extremely mild. And, without knowing whether or not it’s psychoactive, we don’t know if its possible psychoactive effects would be more euphoric, uplifting, sedating, etc.

Because of that, it’s clear that at least for now, THCM’s purpose is to potentiate the effects of other cannabinoids, and contribute to the very desirable entourage effect.
As it turns out, THCM is a legal cannabinoid according to federal law, when it comes from the hemp plant, because of the Farm Bill, which passed in 2018, and legalized any hemp product that contains a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC. THCM may sound a lot like delta 9 THC in its name, but ultimately, it’s a different compound.
One thing that you need to know, however, is that 19 states have banned all THC cannabinoids, and THCM would fall into that category. So, you should assume that THCM is illegal in:
THC-H, aka tetrahydrocannabihexol, was first isolated in 2020, so it’s quite a new discovery. We know that THC-H has a 6 carbon atoms on its alkyl side chain, hence the “hexol” in the name. That’s one less carbon atom than THCM, meaning it’s less potent by a slight amount.
THC-H’s high is said to be very euphoria-inducing, which is great for anyone seeking out mood-boosting effects. It also seems to deliver a strong body high effect that induces couchlock for quite a while. Ultimately, THC-H is known to be the second most powerful cannabinoid after THC-P.
THC-H has clear recreational appeal, as its high is extremely potent, and euphoric, which is something that a lot of hemp enthusiasts are seeking out nowadays.
Like THCM, THC-H is protected under that same Farm Bill. So, it’s likely then, that THC-H is banned in the same states that’ve banned other THC cannabinoids, as listed above.
THCM and THC-H are both pretty mysterious, since we know so little about them from a research perspective. And, while we wait for THCM to be more widely available on the market, THC-H is a cannabinoid that’s relatively easy to find nowadays, for those seeking out a super-strong high.
