THC-C and THCH-O sound like they’re nearly identical cannabinoids based on the name, but the truth is that while they are both THC isomers, their effects are unique enough to make each one worth exploring on its own. Let’s compare the two so you can understand how they differ from one another.
THCH-O is tetrahydrocannabihexol acetate, which refers to the acetated form of THC-H – aka, THC-H enhanced with an acetate to make it even more psychoactive. THC-H, the precursor to THCH-O, was first isolated in 2020, by Italian cannabis researchers – in fact, the same cannabis researchers who first isolated THC-P in 2019. What we know about the atomic structure of THC-H is that it has a 6 alkyl side chain, hence the “hexol” in the name. THCH-O has a chemically enhanced side chain that likely makes it between 1.5 to 2 times as potent.
One thing we do know about THCH-O is that it is extremely intoxicating, maybe as intoxicating as THC-P, and we know this because of how efficiently it attaches to CB1 receptors in the brain that create the psychoactive response associated with THC cannabinoids in general, especially thanks to the enhancement of an acetate.
Those who have taken it describe THCH-O’s high as profoundly euphoria-inducing, which is great for anyone seeking out potent uplifting effects. Another commonly reported effect is a potent body high effect that induces couchlock for quite a while.

The fact that THC-C is missing 3 carbon atoms explains its unique effects that differ from other THC cannabinoids. Because of this, THC-C is unable to get a person high, which means that THC-C is strictly non-intoxicating no matter how much the user takes. This structural difference prevents the cannabinoid from attaching to the CB1 receptors that trigger a psychoactive response.
Since THC-C is non-psychoactive, the reason a person would seek it out is likely because they like CBD’s properties, but still want something stronger. Those who have used it have report very positive mood effects, and that seems to be the biggest part of its appeal.
Like THCH-O, THC-C is protected under the Farm Bill.
